UN delegation to support Namibia in reducing malnutrition among children

Global Child Rights Advocate, Graca Machel and UNICEF Regional Director for eastern and southern Africa, Leila Pakkala will be in Namibia to support the government's ongoing efforts to reduce malnutrition among children and accelerate the realization of children's rights.

Rochelle van Wyk, Communication Assistant of UNICEF Namibia, on Tuesday said the delegation will be in the country on a three-day visit from Dec. 7 to 9 at the time when UNICEF is celebrating its 70th Anniversary under the theme "For Every Child, There is Hope."

According to Van Wyk, Namibians will have the opportunity to share success stories and challenges that still remain in addressing the rights of children.

Pakkala and Machel will also visit the Katutura Pediatric ward, in the capital Windhoek, to engage with a diverse group of partners, including mothers, children, senior government officials, parliamentarians, civil society organizations, ambassadors, international donor community and United Nations agencies.
