Troops from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), alongside the Somalia National Army, killed seven Al-Shabaab militants in fighting in southern Somalia, the AMISOM said Monday.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Officials in Oakland, California, resumed searching for victims of a warehouse fire over the weekend while death toll climbed to 36 as of Monday morning.
The search was suspended on Sunday night, as the warehouse seemed to be unstable. It started again at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oakland Police Department spokeswoman Johnna Watson told a press briefing shortly before noon. (Oakland-Fire-Warehouse)

NEW DELHI -- One of India's most charismatic and popular politicians, Chief Minister of the southern state of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalitha, died at a private hospital in state capital Chennai late Monday night at the age of 68, the hospital announced Tuesday.
The South Indian film star-turned-politician, who had been in a critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest Sunday evening, passed away at 11.30 p.m. (local time) Monday, the Apollo Hospital where Jayalalitha was being treated for the past four months said in a statement.
