5 militants killed in shootout in S.W. Pakistan

Five militants were killed and two policemen sustained injures in an exchange of firing between insurgents and law enforcement agencies in Pakistan's southwestern Pishin district on Monday, local Urdu media reported.

Police and paramilitary troops carried out a search operation on an intelligence tip-off regarding presence of suspected militants in Huramzai area of Pishin, a district in the country's southwestern Balochistan province, according to Waqt News.

The militants opened fire at the police during the search operation, triggering off an exchange of firing, in which five militants were killed and several others arrested.

Law enforcement agencies said weapons, foreign currency and explosive materials were also recovered from the militants.

The arrested militants were shifted to some unknown location for investigations.

The operation continues in the district and adjoining areas on the tip-off regarding presence of terrorists and their facilitators. Endit
