Xinhua, December 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Greens-backed candidate Alexander Van der Bellen who led in the rerun of Austrian presidential election on Sunday, promised to take the concerns of voters of all parties into consideration.

The former Greens party leader said in an interview on television station ORF2 that he aims to have people refer to him not as "the president" but as "our president" before the end of his six-year term is up.

This includes voters for the right-wing Freedom Party's opponent Norbert Hofer.

He said people who vote for the Freedom Party have legitimate concerns, including those regarding employment, pensions and healthcare.

Van der Bellen also said he will follow his "old values" of solidarity, freedom and equality. Endit
