-- The Zambian government said it was working on a healthcare plan to help child inmates be reintegrated in society.

Ministry of Justice Permanent Secretary Patricia Jere said the healthcare plan will begin at the first point of contact with prison facilities to the successful reintegration to the community.

She further said instead of incarcerating child offenders, the government wanted to promote diversion programs such as psychosocial counseling as children become worse than they were prior to going to jail. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has commended the media in Zambia for its increased efforts to promote the use of condoms as one way to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS.
