Santos eyeing Hamburg defender Cleber

Xinhua, December 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hamburg center-back Cleber could join Santos in January as the Brazilian club seeks to bolster its defence, according to media reports.

The Germany outfit is said to be requesting around three million euros for Cleber, who has failed to hold down a first-team place since his 2014 move from Corinthians.

Santos are hoping to secure the 25-year-old for two million euros after a loan deal was ruled out, ESPN Brasil said.

Hamburg are currently last in the 18-team Bundesliga standings, without a win in 12 matches.

Santos are third in Brazil's Serie A championship and have already secured a berth in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition. Endit
