The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.
-- The family of late Zambian President Michael Sata has agreed to settle out of court a dispute over the property sharing involving his two youngest children and the administrators of his estate.
Petronella Mpundu, who had two children with the late leader, had dragged former first lady Christine Kaseba to court over the distribution of Sata's estate. When the case came up for hearing on Thursday, the parties told the court that they have decided to settle the matter out of court amicably. (Zambia Daily Mail)
-- The Zambian government has suspended fishing activities in all water bodies across the country for a period of three months to allow fish breeding and ensure the nation continues to sustainably exploit the fisheries resources.
Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Michael Katambo said the suspension, which commences this month, was an effective fisheries management tool that ensured sustainable exploitation of fish, adding the suspension would allow for the fingerlings to be reintegrated into the main fish stock for growth of fish population for the future. -- An organization championing the rights of travelers says the Zambian government's decision to restrict movement of pubic vehicles was a poor and economically insensitive decision that will negatively affect businesses.
The government has banned the movement of public service vehicles between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. as one way to reduce road traffic accidents.
But Liswaniso Mwanalushi, director of The Commuter said the decision would negatively affect business in the public transport sector, adding that businesses should be allowed to operate on a 24-hour basis instead of imposing restrictions. (The Mast) Endit
