1 student killed, several others injured in school van accident in Texas

Xinhua, December 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

One student was killed and 10 others were injured after a school van was hit by a truck in Trinity, a city in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Texas.

A Trinity Independent School District van loaded with eight children was stopped to pick up a child when it was struck from behind by a 2008 Ford pick-up, occupied by a 17-year-old student driver and three students, local media reported.

Police confirmed the accident, saying that the 7-year-old girl on the van died later at a hospital. The 10 others, including the driver of the van, were rushed to hospital for medical treatment, and they were in fair condition.

The cause of the accident is under investigation but authorities believe that the sun might have blinded the pickup driver as the vehicle came over a hill. Endi
