Vietnamese officials related to escaping senior officer get disciplined

Xinhua, December 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Some Vietnamese officials related to Trinh Xuan Thanh, former leader of PetroVietnam Construction Corporation (PVC) and former official of southern Hau Giang province, faced disciplinary action, the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Inspection Commission said on Friday.

Earlier, Thanh was expelled from the CPV membership and wanted by the Ministry of Public Security.

The commission decided to give warning to the former advisor to head of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission Bui Cao Tinh, reprimand the former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee for 2015-2020 Tran Cong Chanh and former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Tran Thi Ha, due to their violations in personnel reception, transfer, appointment, and award to Trinh Xuan Thanh. Meanwhile, it will give warning to the former Secretary of southern Hau Giang provincial Party Committee for 2010-2015 Huynh Minh Chac and deputy head of the standing board of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission Tran Luu Hai.

In Thanh's terms from 2007 to 2013, he showed irresponsibility and negligence and violated regulations, resulting in wrongdoings and losses of some 3.3 trillion Vietnamese dong (142 million U.S. dollars), Vietnam News Agency reported.

Thanh was also dishonest and unrepentant during the self-criticism process, said the Secretariat. Endit
