A top mafia boss listed among the most wanted fugitives in Italy was arrested on Thursday, Italian police said.

VIENNA -- Six people have died in an apparent murder-suicide at an inn in the Austrian district of Schildberg in the district of St. Polten-Landstate in Lower Austria, the Krone newspaper reported on Thursday.

SAN FRANCISCO -- A suspect who engaged police in a shootout and staged a nearly 12-hour standoff was shot and killed on Thursday morning in Tacoma, an urban port city in Washington state, police said.

An officer of Tacoma Police Department, identified by the department as Reginald "Jake" Gutierrez, was fatally shot at the early stage of the incident, which began around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday as a domestic disturbance incident. (US-Suspect-Fital Shooting)

BANGKOK -- Thailand's Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn accepted invitation from parliament president to ascend to the throne and thus formally proclaimed King Rama X in a televised ceremony broadcast late Thursday.

"In accordance with the Palace Law and the constitution, I accept the invitation (to become king) for the sake of (the late King) His Majesty and for all the Thai people," said Vajiralongkorn in a televised statement, followed by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's televised address, in which Prayut said "we have a new king now."
