Speed limit device to reduce Nigeria's road accidents by 35 pct: official

The introduction of speed limiting device installed in cars would reduce road crashes in Nigeria by 35 percent, if diligently implemented, a top official with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said Thursday.
Clement Oladele, Sector Commander for southwest Ogun State, who made the remarks, said speeding contributed to over 65 percent of crashes that occur, especially by commercial vehicles, in the country.
He asked drivers to install the device in their vehicles to reduce road crashes and said full enforcement of the policy on the device would commerce on Feb. 1, 2017.
Nigeria is troubled with its high death rates in traffic accidents, mainly due to careless driving, crumbling roads and poor maintenance of vehicles used in public transportation. Endit
