Air strike kills 15 militants in S. Afghanistan

A total of 15 militants were killed as Afghan aircrafts pounded Taliban hideout in Nish district of the southern Kandahar province Wednesday night, spokesman for provincial government Samim Khapalwak said Thursday.

According to the official, some group commanders are among those killed in the raid.

Taliban outfit has not commented.

Meantime, an official on the condition of anonymity revealed that fierce fighting has been continuing between security forces and Taliban in Nish district over the past two days and both sides have suffered casualties.

Kandahar the birthplace and former spiritual capital of Taliban has been the scene of militancy over the past several years. Enditem
