The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- The Zambian government is reviewing a law on the mining and handling of uranium following its discovery in the southern part of the country.

A Canadian firm recently announced that it has discovered uranium in Siavonga district and was expected to start mining the mineral once prices on the international market stabilize. (Times of Zambia)

-- An influential social and economy lobby has said Zambia's economic performance was showing positive signs.

The Jesuit Center for Theological Reflections (JCTR) however said what was needed was the implementation of the government's economic growth policies that were being promulgated. (Daily Nation)

-- There is need to act against social and cultural barriers that negate the fight against HIV/AID.
