Albania launches first agricultural stock market

Xinhua, December 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

The first agricultural stock market in Albania was launched Wednesday by the Albanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Edmond Panariti.

Speaking in front of media here, Panariti said the stock market of agricultural products would define balanced pricing on the basis of auctions. He said the platform was designed to protect the consumer as well fix prices for producers and collectors.

According to him, the launch of this platform was necessary for the country as the time had come to end market speculations.

"Although Albanian economy is based on a free market, we should ban speculators," Panariti said.

The agricultural stock market will come to the aid of farmers orienting them towards the prices of sale and purchase, he added.

Albanian economy experts see the agricultural stock market as a major step toward a transformation of Albanian agriculture and a pioneering development on the Albanian financial market. Enditem
