Czech Republic supports Serbia's EU accession: PM

Xinhua, November 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on Wednesday said he supported Serbia's European Union(EU) accession process and sought to boost business ties with Serbia.

After meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic here, Sobotka said negotiations on the accession of Balkan countries into the EU must not stagnate and must remain a priority.

The two leaders also discussed trade and the migration crisis. Czech government spokesman Martin Ayrer said the Serbian president thanked Czech Republic for its assistance in dealing with migration. He said 15 Czech policemen have been deployed in Serbia since the beginning of November.

Nikolic also met Czech Chamber of Deputies Chairman Jan Hamacek on Wednesday.

Serbia's EU accession was also supported by Czech President Milos Zeman on Tuesday. Enditem
