China's railway police capture 4,631 fugitives in winter campaign

China's railway police said Wednesday that they have captured 4,631 fugitives in a winter campaign that started on Oct. 10.

The campaign, which focused on pickpocketing, theft, fraud and other offenses, has uncovered 956 criminal cases, involving 920 suspects and 25 criminal gangs, the railway police said.

Over the past months, railway police around the country increased patrols and checks at ticket offices, waiting rooms, platforms and other places, and employed multiple measures to strengthen the security network.

Railway police in some places even employed cleaners and small traders as informers to expand the channels of intelligence.

In the meantime, railway police around the country also strengthened crackdown on drug-related crimes, uncovering seven cases. Endi
