Kenyan police on Tuesday launched an investigation into the murder of a suspected Al-Shabaab militant, who had surrendered to authorities.

The body of Abdulkarim Mzee (aka Abdul) was discovered dumped with multiple knife wounds along the Mombasa-Malindi highway in the coastal town of Malindi on Tuesday morning by locals.

Abdul was among seven suspected militants of Somalia-based Islamist group Al-Shabaab, who surrendered after their names and photos were released by police.
