"Google knows more about young customers' needs for cars than Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW together," said German economy minister Sigmar Gabriel on Saturday.
The minister made the remarks at the national conference of Germany's Welfare Association of Workers (AWO) in Wolfsburg, the base of automobile giant Volkswagen, local media reported.
"Volkswagen believed that young people would buy cars from car dealers, but many of them will go on an internet platform for cars in future," Gabriel said.
AWO is one of Germany's leading welfare organizations. This year's conference focuses on poverty, equality, integration and education opportunities. Endit
