Police arrested on Friday a man suspected of killing a woman at a retirement home for missionaries in southwest France, news channel BFMTV has reported.

The man was arrested near his house in Saint-Mathieu-de-Trevier, about 15 kilometres from the retirement home, which he stormed on Thursday evening and killed one of its workers, according to BFMTV. (France-Killing-Suspect)

SAN JOSE -- The government of Costa Rica confirmed Friday that Hurricane Otto had killed at least nine people in the country, after the storm battered northern regions.

The director of the country's legal investigation bureau, OJI, Walter Espinoza gave a press conference to explain the deaths had occurred in the areas of Bagaces and Upala, the most affected by the strong rains and winds. (Costa Rica-Hurricane)

TEHRAN -- At least 43 people were killed in a collision between two trains in Iran's northern province of Semnan Friday, said Iran's Red Crescent Society.

Spokesman of Relief and Rescue Organization of Red Crescent Society, Mostafa Mortazavi, released the figure Friday, adding that another 100 people were injured and hospitalized. (Iran-Train Collision)

NAIROBI -- The Kenyan government on Friday refuted reports of an outbreak of rinderpest disease in the country as well as threat from neighboring Tanzania.

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett said Kenya has an active and passive surveillance program that ensures there is no re-emergence of rinderpest in the country, while keeping a high level of alertness. (Kenya-Rinderpest Disease) Endit
