Cuba, Honduras agree to boost economic ties

Cuban President Raul Castro met with his visiting Honduran counterpart Juan Hernandez Thursday, pledging to further strengthen political, economic and trade cooperation between their countries.

According to a government release published by the daily Granma, the two leaders discussed the current state of bilateral relations while exchanging views on international issues of common concern.

Prior to the meeting, the Honduran president laid a wreath at the monument of Cuba's national hero, Jose Marti, at the Revolution Plaza.

He also chaired on Thursday the signing of three legal instruments that will boost bilateral economic ties, especially in the fields of trade, investment and tourism.

The two Caribbean countries established diplomatic relations in 1903, which were broken off in 1961 and restored in 2002.

The bilateral trade flow reached almost 30 million U.S. dollars in 2015, according to official data from Cuba's authorities. Endi
