Ghana says ready for special voting on December 1

Xinhua, November 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) said it was ready to conduct special voting on December 1 ahead of the general election six days later.

Deputy Communications Director for the EC Yussif Ayuba said on national radio Thursday that all logistics needed for the conduct of the election had been dispatched to the designated centers across the country.

He also indicated the electoral body was in touch with the police authorities here to ensure adequate security on the day of the exercise.

Ayuba assured the Ghanaian public and the international community that the commission was committed to delivering a free and fair election.

Special voting is a polling conducted for security personnel, journalists as well as permanent and temporary staff of the EC who will be working on Election Day.

The EC says some 65,000 personnel will take part in this year's special voting. Endit
