Kenya probes police station attack by armed thugs

Kenya's security officers have launched investigations after a police station in Western Kenya was raided by armed thugs who also slashed one officer on duty on Tuesday night.

Western Regional Police Commander Moses Ombati confirmed the incident on Wednesday, saying the robbers made away with seven rifles and more than 100 bullets stored in the armory at Booker Police post.

"We are investigating the attack with hopes of making recoveries and arrest of those behind it. We don't know who they were and their motive but investigations have been launched," Ombati said.

Sources at the station said the injured officer was found unconscious by a colleague checking in at the station early Wednesday. He was rushed to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.

On Saturday evening, Kenyan police killed four suspected terrorists as they foiled a planned terror attack a police station in Mandera County in northeast Kenya. Endit
