Singapore stocks close 0.62 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 17.49 points, or 0.62 percent, to close at 2,839.69.

A total of 1.57 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.24 billion Singapore dollars (868 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 204 to 201, while 682 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 5.53 points, or 0.2 percent, to close at 2,822.20 on Tuesday. Endit
