Dozens of workers suffer burns in Bangladesh factory fire

Dozens of workers, mostly women, sustained injuries as a fire broke out at a gas lighter factory in Ashulia on the outskirts of Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Tuesday, a police official said.
According to the official who did not like to be named, seven units of firefighters after hectic efforts of hours managed to douse the fire at around 5:00 p.m. local time at the Color Max (BD) Limited.
"At least 26 workers got admitted to different hospitals including the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital," he said.
Of them, according to the official, five female workers' suffered serious injuries and are in a critical condition.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
A spokesman of the factory was not immediately available for comment.
The government formed a three-member committee to probe the fire mishap. Endit
