Croatian PM agrees to assist Ukraine with European integration

Xinhua, November 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Visiting Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said Monday that his country stands ready to assist Ukraine in its European integration efforts.

During talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Plenkovic said that Croatia is eager to share its experience in joining the European Union (EU) and become Ukraine's advisor on this path.

"We, as the youngest member of the EU, are ready to assist with the synchronization of the legislation under the Association Agreement, with the coordination of international aid and with other aspects that will make you prepared for the future relations with the EU," Plenkovic said.

In particular, Zagreb is ready to share its experience with Kiev on the re-integration of territories that fell beyond the government control, Plenkovic said.

Groysman said Kiev highly appreciates Croatia's support for Ukraine's closer partnership with the EU.

"Your experience and your expertise are very important. I think that we will take full advantage of this cooperation opportunity to find the answers to the questions that you have already raised," Groysman said.

Ukraine has set the EU membership as one of its top priorities and signed the Association Agreement with the 28-member block in 2014, the first step toward membership.

This year, Kiev and Brussels have started applying the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area under the partnership deal. Endi
