Xinhua, November 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

A mortar shell was found on Monday in the garden of a German consulate residence in Istanbul, press report said.

The device was discovered by employees who were cleaning the garden of the consulate's summer residence in Istanbul's Sariyer district, reported the state-run Anatolian news agency.

A bomb disposal unit was called and the mortar shell was safely removed from the garden, said the agency.

Press reports said the shell dated back 60 to 70 years, and it was not immediately clear how it landed in the garden. Endit
