Huining county in Gansu province released a short film depicting the government’s poverty relief efforts in the region on Nov 15.

Titled Youcai Tuopin, or “poverty relief story of Youcai”, the film tells the story of an official in Huining that helps a poverty-stricken family achieve prosperity through hard work.

Yang Yongqiang, vice secretary of Huining county, attended the film’s premiere and commented that Youcai Tuopin is a realistic film that accurately presents the economic and social development of Huining.

The film’s director Wang Fuxiang, who was born in Huining county, took his team to visit seven villages in the county to ensure the portrayal of the local area was as authentic as possible.

Wang and his crew completed the shooting and editing of the film in two months.

The film tells the story of Wang Youcai, a poor local farmer who is lazy and addicted to gambling.

After seeing his predicament, a local official surnamed Ma helps Wang start an animal husbandry business, and Wang is eventually able to become rich.
