Xinhua, November 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chinese language training has resumed at the Chinese cultural center of Cotonou as the 2016-2017 academic year was launched on Saturday in the Benin economic capital.

Wei Jun, director of Chinese cultural center, presided the ceremony that gathered over hundred learners from Benin and their relatives.

"Through Chinese language training, we are striving to ensure the strengthening of China-Benin cooperation and the provision of excellent senior officers for the cooperation between China and Benin", he said.

Wei Jun said Benin people are eager to acquire Chinese language, which can help them know better about China, its culture and civilization.

Every year, over 3,000 people in Benin including students, public agents and economic operators enroll for Chinese language training in the Chinese cultural center, in Confucius Institute at Abomey Calavi University, and in public as well as private colleges.

In July this year, Confucius Institute of Abomey Calavi University delivered professional bachelor diploma to its first crop of Chinese language learners.

"This first cohort of students, after three successful university year training, are able to write and speak fluently Chinese language", Dr Julien Segbo, the Beninese director of Confucius Institute at Abomey Calavi University said. Endit
