Xinhua, November 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Four people were killed in an ambulance plane crash late Friday night in northern Nevada.

According to local media reported, three crew members and a patient on an American Medflight plane taking the patient to a Utah hospital were killed in a crash which happened in Friday evening in Elko, northern part of U.S. Nevada.

The president of American Medflight, John Burruel said in a statement that the company is "mourning the loss" of its crew members and patient.

The reason of this crash is still unknown. "We are devastated by this event and wish we had answers to the many questions being asked at this time," said in the statement.

"Our priority at this time is to look after the well-being of the affected family members and their co-workers and to be responsive to their needs," American Medflight's statement said. "We ask the media and interested parties to be patient with the investigation process and honor the privacy of the family and friends of those who have lost their lives."

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will involve in an investigation on the crash.

It is at least the third air ambulance crash in recent months, local media said. Enditem
