(Sports) 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations kicks off in Cameroon

The 10th Africa Women Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicked off Saturday in Cameroon's capital Yaounde, with 8 teams competing for the cup in the next two weeks.
Cameroonian President Paul Biya officially declared the opening of the cup in Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Saturday afternoon followed by the opening match played between host Cameroon national women football team and Egyptian national women football team. Cameroon team defeated Egyptian team by 2:0.
The 8 teams will play in two groups with host Cameroon, Egypt, South Africa and Zimbabwe in group A and defending champion Nigeria, Mali, Ghana, Kenya in group B. They will play in two stadiums which are Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium and southwestern Limbe Stadium.
Africa Women Cup of Nations is organized by Confederation of African Football (CAF) every two years since 1998. Nigeria has won most of the games. Cameroon won the runner-up in last African women cup of nations then called African Women's Championship held in Namibia in October, 2014.
The final of 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations will take place in Dec. 3 in Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium. Endit
