Albanian inflation stands at 2.3 pct in 2016: central bank

Xinhua, November 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Albania's annual inflation is expected to reach 2.3 percent, thus standing within the objective of the Albanian central bank, the bank experts told local media on Thursday.

According to the central bank, inflation averaged 1.9 percent in the third quarter of 2016, going upward compared to the level of 0.7 percent seen in the previous two quarters.

The return of the economy to equilibrium and the stabilization of external environment will establish the conditions for a progressive increase of inflation in the medium term, returning to the bank's target over 2018, the bank said in its latest quarterly monetary report.

According to the experts, the rise in inflation during the second half of year showed the strengthening of inflationary pressures from the domestic demand and the reduction of disinflationary pressures from abroad. Endit
