Database of Japan's research files on China to be established

Xinhua, November 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

The National Library of China (NLC) on Tuesday began a project to set up a database holding the research undertaken by Japan into China since the 19th century.

The database, which draw on collections held by the NLC and other domestic and overseas institutions, will further research into the Japanese invasion period.

For decades, Japan was engaged in detailed investigation and research into the Chinese economy, politics and society, drawing conclusions from chambers of commerce, enterprises and consulates, according to the NLC.

As part of the project, a set of books featuring research by the East Asia Common Culture College, a Japanese college set up in Shanghai in the early 20th century, which was tasked with some of the investigations, were also published on Tuesday. Endi
