Top news items in major Zambia media outlets

The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.
-- Zambia's Finance Minister Felix Mutati said next year's budget has no provision for deputy ministers and government has no intention of re-introducing the positions.
Last week, some ruling party lawmakers began pushing plans for the amendment of the constitution and the reintroduction of the position of deputy ministers.
-- A top public service official in Zambia has urged senior government officials to lead by example towards changing the negative perception that the public has about the public service.
Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska said there need for permanent secretaries to change their work ethics as regard to performance, which would in turn inspire change in the whole public service. (Times of Zambia)
--Zambian President Edgar Lungu said there was nothing wrong with lawmakers proposing amendments to the country's constitution because it was their oversight responsibility.
While acknowledging that the constitution was a sacred document, it was bound to be amended if it was not working for the people, adding that there were no better people to guide the nation on the constitution than the lawmakers who formulated it. (Daily Nation) Endit
