Saudi-led coalition intercepts missile fired from Yemen

Xinhua, November 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Saudi-led coalition said that a missile fired from Yemen toward the border city of Najran was intercepted, Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

The Saudi Royal Air Force destroyed the missile and targeted the source of the fire inside Yemen.

Clashes between Saudi forces and Houthis on the Saudi-Yemeni border have escalated after Saudi Arabia intercepted last month a missile that launched toward Mecca from Yemen. It was destroyed 65 km away from the holy city.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab coalition to fight the Houthis in Yemen in support of Yemen's elected President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi since March 2015. Endit
