The inaugural Singapore FinTech Festival kicked off on Monday with a series of events aiming to portray the future of a financial industry transformed by innovation and technology.
Organized by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), the week-long festival attracted close to 11,000 participants.
Singapore FinTech Festival started with the island-wide Innovation Lab Crawl, where more than 20 innovation labs across the country demonstrate their solutions and offer visitors a glimpse into the future of finance.
The event featured three conferences, where participants can hear experts expounding on global FinTech trends, latest technologies, market-ready and future solutions, financial regulations, and technology risk.
Alongside the main FinTech Conference, participants can also visit the complementary FinTech Exhibition with over 70 financial institutions and FinTech companies participating in.
Sopnendu Mohanty, Chief FinTech Officer of MAS, said Singapore FinTech Festival is an important initiative to bring the global FinTech community together, and it will foster the thriving FinTech ecosystem in Singapore and beyond.
ABS Director Ong-Ang Ai Boon added that the festival offers a conducive environment for the FinTech community to connect, exchange ideas and preview what the future holds for the financial industry.
"FinTech is the way forward and we are delighted that the Festival will create new value and position Singapore as a future-ready financial center," said the director.
Singapore FinTech Festival will last until Friday. A FinTech Awards held on Thursday will recognize innovative FinTech solutions that have been implemented by FinTech companies, financial institutions, and technology companies. Endit
