Azerbaijani Kiplagat, Kenyan Barsosio win Istanbul Marathon

Azerbaijani Evans Kiplagat and Kenyan Agnes Jeruto Barsosio won the men's and women's titles at the 38th Vodafone Istanbul Marathon here on Sunday.

The Kenya-born Kiplagat finished first the 42 kilometers long lap with a winning time of two hours 13 minutes and 28 seconds. Barsosio won the women's race in 2:28:24.

The Istanbul Marathon, the world's only road race between Asia to Europe, started at the Asian side of the July 15 Martyrs' Bridge, formerly known as the Bosphorus Bridge, and concluded in the historical Sultanahmet Square of European side this year.

Thousands of people took part in the Istanbul Marathon this year with a theme "We are running for the July 15 martyrs," Turkish Anadolu Agency reported. Endit
