Singapore's air force conducts alternate runway exercise

Xinhua, November 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Sunday conducted "Exercise Torrent," in which public road was converted into a runway for aircraft take-off and landing.

The alternate exercise, which was last conducted in 2008 and now is in its seventh edition, aims to increase RSAF's aircraft take-off and landing capability.

This year's exercise saw Lim Chu Kang Road in Singapore's northwest part being converted into a temporary aircraft runway where planes took off and landed in quick succession, and new F-15SG planes participated in the exercise for the first time.

Singapore's Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said this exercise aims to enhance the operational readiness of RSAF, and shows RSAF's confidence. Endit
