A Chinese commerce official said Thursday that a long-term healthy and stable China-U.S. trade relationship is in line with the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries.
"Whoever takes the U.S. presidency will not change the situation, which is that the two countries' common interests outweigh the differences, and deepening their win-win cooperation is the shared desire of the business community in both countries," Ministry of Commerce spokesman Shen Danyang said at a press conference.
Shen made the statements in response to a question about Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election.
He said China would continue to work with the United States to push forward the win-win bilateral economic and trade relations and ensure its steady and healthy development.
When asked about the depreciation of China's currency, the yuan, Shen said maintaining the general stability of the yuan exchange rate would help promote China's foreign trade, and the country has no intention to boost exports with a cheaper yuan. Endi
