2nd LD: Death toll rises to 2 in E China factory explosion

The death toll from an explosion Tuesday at a factory in the eastern province of Anhui has risen to two.

Five people had been rescued as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the two fatalities died at hospital, the three other patients do not have life-threatening injuries, according to a local authority update. Ten people remain unaccounted for.

The explosion occurred at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at a factory on an industrial park in Tangshu Township, Shucheng County.

Police, firefighters, doctors and local officials are all at the scene supporting the rescue operation.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway. Endit
