Shooting leads to lockdown of polling station in LA

Xinhua, November 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

A shooting injuring three to five people in Azusa, a small town 40 kilometers east to downtown Los Angeles, forced a polling station nearby to be put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon.

Local residents told Xinhua, the incident happened in a restaurant near W 5th street and N Orange Avenue. The shooter, who was reported by witness of carrying high powered rifle, had not been taken into custody so far.

According to local KABC-TV, the Azusa police and policemen from neighbour city West Covina are searching the suspect and ordered a polling station and a middle school to be put on lockdown.

Los Angeles Times quoted fire department officials as saying since the situation was not "contained," not all patients had been able to receive treatment.

A report of LA Times also said one was killed in the shooting, however the news was not confirmed by Azasu police.

Azusa, located in Los Angeles County, has about 46,000 residents. Enditem
