China's senior political advisors met Tuesday to offer suggestions on improving special education for the disabled in the country.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, attended the meeting.
All of society should pay attention to support special education and safeguard equal rights to education for the disabled, attendees said at the meeting.
Political advisors proposed that funding should be increased to improve conditions in special teaching facilities. They also suggested promoting teacher-training programs for more competent faculty to improve the quality of China's special education.
Other suggestions were raised during the meeting, such as reducing birth defects through modern technology and more emphasis on preschool education for disabled children. Endi
