1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher on Tuesday

Chinese shares closed higher on Tuesday on the release of October's customs data.

China's exports continued to fall and imports grew in October, according to figures from the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.46 percent to 3,147.89 points. The smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.64 percent higher at 10,763.13 points.

China's NASDAQ-style ChiNext Index gained 0.94 percent to close at 2,150.3 points.

Total turnover on the two stock exchanges rose slightly to 526 billion yuan (77.58 billion U.S. dollars) from 511.4 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Companies in liquor and plastics sectors led the rally. Spirit maker Kweichow Moutai Co. gained 1.48 percent to 320 yuan, and resin producer Kingfa Sci.& Tech Co. rose 4.71 percent to 7.34 yuan.

The coal sector suffered with Shaanxi Coal Industry Co. dropping 4.07 percent to 6.37 yuan. Endi
