Xinhua, November 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

An earthquake measuring 6.0 Richter scale struck off Banten province of western Indonesia earlier Tuesday, but was not potential for tsunami, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.

The quake epicenter was at 271 km southwest Lebak of the province, at 10 km under sea bed, an official of the agency said.

"We did not issue a warning for tsunami," he told Xinhua by phone.

The USGS reported the quake was at 5.6 magnitude.

Indonesia is vulnerable to quakes, as its lies on a quake-prone zone so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire." Enditem
