The City of London Corporation's charitable funder, City Bridge Trust, on Monday awarded a grant of 80,000 pounds (99,000 U.S. dollars) to the Chinese National Healthy Living Center based in London, to provide more help for people with dementia, the corporation said.

The grant will be used towards the cost of a full-time coordinator plus the running costs of its London Chinese Dementia & Alzheimer's Project, it said in a statement.

The project provides a range of services to support those in the Westminster Chinese community with dementia and their families and carers. It aims to increase awareness and knowledge of the condition, reduce stigma and provide practical support.

The Chinese National Healthy Living Center is based in a local health center in the heart of the Chinese community in Soho. It was established in 1987 to promote healthy living and reduce health inequalities and currently acts as a bridge between the Chinese community and mainstream services.

The City of London Corporation's charity is committed to supporting Londoners to make the city a better place to work and live. City Bridge Trust has awarded over 7,300 grants totaling more than 344 million pounds (426 million dollars) to organization across the capital between since 1995. Endit
