Nigerian forces kill 37 Boko Haram militants

Xinhua, November 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nigerian forces have killed 37 terrorists in the restive state of Borno during a clearance operation on Saturday, a military spokesman said Sunday.

The troops also captured one Boko Haram terrorist and one female believed to be a sex slave held by the group, said Sani Usman, spokesman of the army.

Usman said the troops carried out the operation in suspected Boko Haram hideouts at Ajigin, Golgore, Njibulla and Doksa villages.

He added that three AK-47 rifles were recovered at Ajigin during the operation.

He said a vigilante group member lost his life, while six soldiers were wounded during the operation.

The Nigerian government has launched several military operations over the past months to eliminate the terror group, which emerged in northeast Nigeria's Borno region. Endite
