UN envoy to visit Gambia ahead of December polls

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and Sahel, Mohammed Ibn Chambas, is expected to visit Gambia ahead of December elections, UN officials told Xinhua on Saturday.

Chambas will hold talks with government officials and leaders of political parties and Civil Society Organizations, NGOs and development partners.

His visit will start from November 9 to 10, according to the officials.

The purpose of his visit is for consultations in the context of the ongoing electoral process in Gambia. Endit
