At least one civilian was killed and three others injured as five rockets fired by militants slammed into residential areas in Assadabad, the capital of Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province, 185 km east of Kabul on Saturday, deputy to provincial police chief said.

"Anti-government insurgents fired five rockets onto Assadabad city this morning leaving one innocent civilian dead and injuring three others," Sayed Maqsoud Pacha told reporters here.

Meantime, Farooq Sahar, the director of Kunar public health department, confirmed to Xinhua that one dead body and three injured persons have been taken to hospital.

The rocket attacks on Assadabad took place amid ongoing fightings between Taliban militants and government forces in Dangam and Manogai districts, Kunar province. Enditem
