News Analysis: China's anti-corruption drive to yield high results, sets new global standard: Bangladeshi experts

China's anti-corruption drives look set to yield high results for the world's largest economy's efforts to maintain good governance and economic growth, aimed at ensuring a sustainable flow of benefits for its people and countries and regions around the world, political analysts here told Xinhua.
They said over the past decades a powerful and consolidated Communist Party of China (CPC) leadership with Xi Jinping at its core has immensely contributed to steering China to the center stage of global economics and politics by instituting a number of reform campaigns.
According to the experts, economic policies that China has been pursuing since 1978 have already yielded optimum results for its people as well as the region and beyond.
The recently concluded sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee has also once again sent a strong political signal to the Chinese people, as well as the world, that the CPC is fully capable of governing itself, while also effectively commanding the second-largest economy in the world.
"For maintaining robust and stable growth, China must continue its efforts to eliminate corruption," Chairman of the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), Munshi Faiz Ahmad, told Xinhua in a recent interview.
Not just China's own citizens but China watchers in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world are also applauding the Xi government's good governance which is underpinned by the strengthening of the ongoing anti-corruption drive, said the chairman of the BIISS, a statutory institution established in 1978 by the Bangladeshi government with the aim of undertaking and promoting research and deliberation on international affairs, security and developmental issues.
"We are glad to see strong stance taken by President Xi Jinping to stem corruption," he said.
Xi and his state machinery really deserve a big round of applause for their efforts to constantly make progresses in the anti-corruption drive to build a clean party and government, said Ahmed, who also served as ambassador of Bangladesh to China.
He further said the plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee sent a strong political signal against corruption by adding more stringent anti-corruption measures.
After initially catching corrupt bigwigs, Ahmed said the Chinese government has now further broadened its anti-corruption drive and it seems to be yielding huge results for Chinese people and its economy.
This is something the Chinese people needed for a long time, he added.
"This is something Xi Jinping is doing for the welfare of his people. We must appreciate him and his anti-corruption efforts," Ahmed said.
China's ongoing drive to eliminate corruption is both encouraging and inspiring for other countries in the region and beyond which have also been suffering from such social and political maladies, Ashfaqur Rahman, former Bangladesh ambassador to China, told Xinhua Monday.
He said a corruption free China will surely benefit not only its own people but also the countries in the region and beyond, which are receiving huge Chinese support for their economic developments.
"Measures which have so far been taken by China have already produced impeccable results for its economy and people," he said, adding that China has also managed to further slash poverty over the last few years, to a large extent because of its efforts to rein in corruption.
"Anti-corruption drives will immensely contribute to the Chinese government's efforts to further reduce poverty and develop the country as a whole," he said in an interview.
Referring to a communique released after the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee which was held from Monday to Thursday in Beijing, he said, "We should all take lessons from China."
Stringent measures which have been adopted during the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee will really work well to boost the Chinese government's efforts in largely stemming corruption, Rahman said.
"Last week I was in China and I noticed the remarkable progress that China has made in recent times," Rahman said.
He said, "We (China watchers) highly appreciate the Xi government's ongoing anti-corruption drive which only aims at ensuring people's welfare."
Rahman said that China could hasten its development if the stringent anti-corruption measures can be applied properly.
"Hopefully China can implement its reform agendas into a well disciplined system at every stage of society."
He also expressed hope that the "China Dream" put forth by Xi Jinping as his vision for China's development will be achieved if the drive to root out the corrupt from every level of society is successful.
BIISS chairman Ahmed further said Xi Jinping's wide-ranging anti-corruption drive has been admired in Bangladesh as well.
"His fighting corruption is something that the world outside China is also closely monitoring."
The more China can do to reduce or eliminate its corruption, the better it will be for the emerging world power which is now a role model for many countries around the world, Ahmed said.
The government of Bangladeshi's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also been fighting corruption, he said, and added the Chinese anti-corruption efforts come as lessons for countries around the world also fighting corruption.
Both Bangladesh and China have been working closely for further economic development, Ahmed said.
"Corruption hinders our success and casts shadows over our achievements."
Referring to a communique released after the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee recently, Ahmed said, "We do believe that the stringent measures will help China better fight corruption. The anti-corruption drive also upholds and bolsters China's international image." Enditem
