The Republic of Benin has welcomed, in the economic capital Cotonou, the 21st Chinese medical mission which arrived for new assignment in the West African country.

The medical team, comprised of 27 specialized physicians, arrived on Tuesday. They will spend twelve months working in three hospital centers in cities including Lokossa and Natitingou.

Sources close to health ministry said Benin had been eager to receive another Chinese medical mission for primarily cataract surgery so as to alleviate the plight of visually impaired people.

Benin also looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in health field, especially in the traditional medicine domains.

As part of the health cooperation between China and Benin, over 400 Chinese physicians have served in the West African country where they contributed to the provision of better health care. Endit
