Five Nordic Council Prizes were presented Tuesday evening at the DR Concert Hall in Copenhagen in conjunction with the ongoing 68th Nordic Council Session from Nov. 1 to 3.
Katarina Frostenson from Sweden has won the literature prize for her collection of poems "Sanger och formler" (translated as "Songs and formulas").
The 63-year-old writer won the prize because "in her poetry -- so apparently tight yet actually very spacious -- there are constant transformations portraying life's multifaceted oddity."
Hans Abrahamsen from Denmark has won the Nordic Council Music Prize for the song cycle "Let Me Tell You", while Nordic Council Film Prize went to director and screenwriter Joachim Trier, screenwriter Eskil Vogt and producer Thomas Robsahm for their Norwegian film "Louder Than Bombs".
Arnar Mar Arngrimsson from Iceland has won this year's Nordic Council Children and Young People's Literature Prize for the book "Solvasaga unglings" (translated as "Solvi, the tale of a young man").
The Nordic Council Environment Prize was given to Stian Olesen and Klaus B. Pedersen from Denmark for their design of app "Too Good To Go". The app is a digital innovation "that uses simple and informal means to change the way that both consumers and businesses approach food waste and the consumption of resources."
Each of the prize is worth 350,000 Danish kroner, or about 52,033 U.S. dollars. Endit
